A 20-year-old woman named Cassi Taylor died in an unusual accident in Florida, United States, on Sunday night (8/30). She was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on I-95 highway, near Titusville, when she came upon an out-of-control Mercedes that had hit an alligator (American alligator) that was crossing the road.
After the collision between the two vehicles, Cassi was thrown from the pickup truck when the vehicle rolled over. The young woman fell on the asphalt and was struck by a driver who fled the scene without providing assistance, authorities reported. Cassi's death was confirmed at the accident scene by station WFLA.
The accident occurred a few hours before Cassi was to be sworn in as a police officer in Jasper, a city where her father also works in the police force. Cassi was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, investigators confirmed, who reported that the alligator also died from being struck.
