The Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) is analyzing, on first reading, Bill 893/2023, which expands the service of a psychological support program for police officers and firefighters to all 92 municipalities of the state.
The bill, which amends Law 8,386/2019, extends the program currently offered to civil and military police, firefighters and security inspectors to also include prison police and employees of the General Department of Socioeducational Actions (Degase).
The program serves civil and military servants who are victims of work-related trauma, including those who participated in armed confrontation during police interventions, regardless of whether they suffered injuries. The action also covers the family members of these agents.
The proposal authorizes the Executive Branch to establish the program in state hospitals or through agreements, and includes the possibility of online care through digital platforms.
