Canal N – Notícias – Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro2 September 2026 at 16:24

The Civil and Property Registry Office of Chaves was targeted by a burglary during the early morning. The intruders forced the entrance door to gain access to the interior of the premises.

From the space disappeared approximately 200 passports, 500 citizen cards, two white stamps, two safes and around 500 euros in cash. The incident forced the temporary closure of the registry office during the morning.

The space was preserved to allow the intervention of the criminal investigation elements of the Public Security Police, who proceeded to collect evidence and carry out the necessary inquiries.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the theft and attempting to determine who was responsible, as well as the possible destination of the stolen documents and materials. To date, no information is known about suspects or any arrests.
