The XVII FENAREG Days – Irrigation Meeting 2026, which were to be held on November 17 and 18, have been postponed by one day and will now take place on November 18 and 19 in Reguengos de Monsaraz. The change was communicated by the National Federation of Irrigators of Portugal (FENAREG), promoter of the event in partnership with the City Council of Reguengos de Monsaraz, keeping the planned venue: the Multiusos Pavilion of the Fair and Exhibition Park.

The meeting brings together political decision-makers, public entities, irrigators' associations, farmers and specialists to discuss the future of irrigation and the planned investments for the sector. Among the main topics on November 18, highlights include the panel dedicated to the future of the Reguengos Irrigation Block and its impact on the agricultural, economic and territorial development of the region, as well as the debate on the "Water that Unites" strategy and its transition to the execution phase.

The first day will also include keynote interventions and a tribute to personalities who distinguished themselves in the irrigation sector, followed by a dinner. On November 19, a technical visit is planned to the rehabilitation works of the Lucefecit hydroagricultural facilities, the ongoing interventions in the Reguengos Hydraulic Circuit, and a local agricultural farm. Registration for the conference is expected to open soon.

Banco de Portugal 'warns': this is the maximum number of coins you can use for payments in Portugal

Banco de Portugal warned that, according to Decree-Law No. 246/2007, no one is obligated to accept more than 50 euro coins in a single payment, regardless of the total value presented. This means that a store can refuse a payment from the 51st coin onwards, even if the total amount is high, since the count is made by units and not by value. The rule does not apply to the State, Banco de Portugal, or credit institutions, and should not be confused with the prohibition on cash payments equal to or exceeding 3,000 euros provided for in Law No. 92/2017.
