'I used to get ready in the dark': twin mother reveals how she recovered her self-esteem

oglobo2 September 2026 at 13:37

Layse Cohen, 39 years old and mother of twins, revealed how the arrival of her children silently transformed her life. According to her, between housework, childcare, and domestic tasks, her own needs kept being put on the back burner, until she started avoiding her own reflection.

The intense routine was accompanied by episodes of binge eating, low self-esteem, and an increasingly difficult relationship with her own body image. Layse shared that one of the habits that most represented that moment was getting ready in the dark so she wouldn't have to look at herself.

The period after motherhood was marked by a gradual exhaustion that deeply affected the way she perceived herself. The experience shows that motherhood, although associated with profound transformations, does not always bring visible changes, hiding internal struggles that many mothers face.

Layse's story also addresses how she managed to recover her self-esteem after this difficult period, serving as a warning about the importance of caring for mothers' mental and emotional health.
