The Ministry of Finance refused a meeting request made by the Federal District government regarding the R$ 6.6 billion loan requested from the Credit Guarantee Fund in an attempt to save the Bank of Brasília. The meeting was to be with Minister Dario Durigan.
In an official letter sent to the DF government, the Ministry stated that the Office of the Attorney General and the Office of the Chief Counsel for the National Treasury have represented the Union in the discussions on the matter, making a direct meeting with the minister unnecessary.
The Finance Ministry also declared that coordination between the Federal District and the financial market and financial institutions is necessary, pointing out that the structuring and execution of the operation do not fall within the attributions of the Federal Government.
Despite refusing the meeting, the Ministry stated that it remains available to participate in the discussions and help coordinate the necessary follow-ups for the operation, saying that it has always assisted where appropriate.
