The Pista da Senhora do Monte, in São João da Pesqueira, received on September 1st the 39th edition of the Great Equestrian Prize, an event that combines equestrian tradition and sport in an afternoon of spectacle.
The competition included the traditional Corrida de Passo Travado, in the Estaca and Vira modalities, bringing together riders and public in a celebration of the region's equestrian culture.
The first place was won by Jorge Costa, from Fafe, riding the horse Minhoto, followed by Flavío Gomes, from Vila Verde, with the horse Belo, and by local rider Luís Lopes, with the horse Fred, in third place. Luís Lopes also received the distinction of best rider of the edition, while António José Lopes was recognized as the most veteran rider in competition.
The event had the support of the Volunteer Firefighters of São João da Pesqueira and Ervedosa do Douro, the local GNR and the municipal services, remaining as one of the initiatives that preserve the equestrian tradition and identity in the municipality.
