The Public Security Police (PSP) collected, over a period of two months, 265 firearms and almost six thousand rounds of ammunition. This weapon collection operation counted with the participation of 124 police officers.
The initiative aimed to remove from the streets weapons that could represent a danger to public security. The weapons and ammunition collected were subsequently analyzed and processed according to the legal procedures established by the PSP.
This operation is part of the continuous effort by Portuguese authorities to reduce the number of weapons in circulation and prevent potential situations of violence.
