Gracindo Jr., whose real name was Epaminondas Xavier Gracindo, died this Wednesday at age 83. He was the son of Paulo Grancindo and chose to use his surname with "Junior" added instead of his full name to launch his artistic career. The actor was part of a generation of artists who chose another name to work under.

With over 60 years of work in television, Gracindo Jr. also worked in theater, radio, and film. He was among the professionals who participated in the inauguration of TV Globo in 1965. According to an interview with Memória Globo, he stated: "I entered at the beginning of TV Globo. It premieres in April 1965, but in December 1964 I was already hired."

Among the main works of the actor's career are telenovelas from the first phase of TV Globo, such as "Rosinha do Sobrado" (1965) and "Padre Tião" (1966), both written by Moisés Weltman. He also participated in other memorable productions of the network.

In "Os Ossos do Barão" (1973), by Jorge Andrade, Gracindo Jr. acted alongside his father, something that also happened in "O Bem-Amado," a work by Dias Gomes aired in the same year. In this latter production, he played the mayor of the fictional town of Cilíndro.
