dnoticias.pt2 September 2026 at 13:16

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, today accused Russia of carrying out an attempted attack using military equipment at the German airport of Leipzig, on European Union territory. Von der Leyen classified the incident as a "new escalation" and rejected any attempt at intimidation by Russia.

In remarks without a question-and-answer session, the president stated: "I want to be very clear about what happened: this was an attack using military-grade equipment, carried out by Russian operatives on European Union territory." Von der Leyen stressed that the European Commission will not tolerate this type of action.

The incident involved Russian operatives who allegedly acted directly on EU territory, representing a significant escalation in tensions between the European Union and Russia. The president made it clear that the European response will be firm in the face of this aggression.
