The Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security announced that more than nine thousand places for support to elderly people have been created since April 2024, in residential facilities, day care centres, home care services and collaborative housing solutions.
Of the total places created, 7,075 result from investments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, distributed across 2,446 places in Residential Facilities for Elderly People, 845 in day care centres, 3,428 in home care services and 356 in collaborative housing solutions.
In addition to the new places, improvement works were carried out in social responses for elderly people, covering 7,932 places, allowing for strengthening capacity and diversifying available responses according to the different levels of autonomy and needs of elderly people and their families.
The Executive reaffirms the objective of creating life solutions appropriate to the needs of the elderly population, promoting autonomy, well-being and integration in the community, highlighting the importance of cooperation with social and solidarity sector institutions in implementing these responses.
