A 21-year-old man is in a coma after being struck by a gunshot to the head in the early hours of Wednesday morning at a café in Vizela. The incident occurred around 00:09 at an establishment located near the headquarters of Vizela Volunteer Firefighters.
According to information gathered, a 25-year-old man is believed to have shown the group a 6.35mm caliber pistol, a weapon that, during handling, accidentally discharged, striking the 21-year-old in the head.
The victim was initially assisted by Vizela Volunteer Firefighters and subsequently by the medical team from the VMER in Guimarães. Due to the severity of the injuries, she was transported to Hospital de Braga, where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit, in a coma.
The Judicial Police of Braga were at the scene, having collected information and heard witnesses. The 25-year-old man was identified and established as a suspect, but was not detained. The investigation continues to clarify the exact circumstances of the shooting.
