Roll-over at Cancela causes one minor injury

A light car rolled over on Wednesday afternoon on Airport Road, near the Cancela Depot, in the municipality of Santa Cruz. The accident caused one minor injury and led to disruptions in traffic. The vehicle went off the road and rolled over while travelling on that road, for reasons that are being investigated by the PSP. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, managed to get out on her own before the rescue teams arrived.

Encounters between vessels and orcas are on the rise again in Portugal, with five records this week alone in the North region of the country. A couple of tourists ended up reporting one of the incidents off Leixões port, while one of the sailboats involved was left without a rudder due to the impact with the animals. The phenomenon has been occurring with increasing frequency in Portuguese waters.

CHAVES REGISTRY OFFICE TARGET OF THEFT DURING THE EARLY MORNING

The Civil and Property Registry Office of Chaves was burglarized during the early morning, with intruders forcing the entrance door and stealing approximately 200 passports, 500 citizen cards, two white stamps, two safes and around 500 euros in cash. The incident led to the temporary closure of the registry office, with the Public Security Police collecting evidence at the scene. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances of the theft and attempting to trace the stolen documents and materials, with no information currently available regarding suspects or arrests.

Over 69 thousand drivers were fined in Spain during a week of special speed enforcement campaign carried out in August, the peak period for holiday travel.
