Viana do Castelo recorded the biggest rent increase among district capitals in Portugal. The median rent price in this city reached 12.5 euros per square meter, representing the most significant increase among all district capitals in the country.
Nationally, rents increased 4.9% in August, settling at 18.1 euros per square meter. This growth represents the second consecutive month of increase, interrupting a downward trend that had characterized the first half of the year.
The data refers to house prices for rent in district capital cities and the autonomous region, thus covering the main urban areas of the country. The increase observed in August indicates a reversal of the rental market trajectory, which had been recording declines in previous months.
