Two resorts in Saudi Arabia became the first in the world to receive the DarkSky Approved Lodgings & Resorts certification. This certification is granted by DarkSky International, an organization dedicated to the preservation of dark skies and the promotion of stargazing tourism.
The certified resorts are Desert Rock Resort and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Both establishments are located in Saudi Arabia and offer guests the possibility to observe the night sky under ideal conditions.
The DarkSky certification recognizes accommodations that meet rigorous criteria for protection against light pollution, allowing authentic stargazing experiences. This distinction positions Saudi Arabia as an emerging destination for astronomical tourism in the Middle East.
