The City Council of Aveiro decided to resume participation in the 'European Mobility Week' program, which returns to the city this month with the objective of "promoting reflection and, above all, concrete action on how we move around the city." City Council President Luís Souto assumes this participation as a municipal priority within what is a national and European program.
Among the main areas of intervention, emphasis is placed on promoting pedestrian and cycling mobility, the use of public transport, the valorization of the Ferry service, and the evolution of BUGAS. The mayor also mentions the ongoing work to think about the future of Avenida Dr. Lourenço Peixinho and the development of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Municipal Plan.
September is also the month of return to school, and Luís Souto ensures that Education continues to be a priority, pointing to investment in the qualification and modernization of school facilities, improving learning conditions, and creating responses that meet the needs of children, young people, families, and educational communities.
The mayor concludes that he intends for Aveiro to be a city where it is good to study, work, live, and age, emphasizing that this is done through investment and policies close to the people, in a more accessible city, with more culture, physical activity, better public spaces, and conditions for new generations. In his September message, there is also emphasis on the Book Fair, which celebrates half a century, and on the activities of the 'Aveiro em Movimento' program.
