Portugal will assess "on a case-by-case basis" a possible reinforcement of European Union sanctions against Iran. The position was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, upon entering the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, held in County Wicklow, Ireland.
Paulo Rangel also expressed "considerable apprehension" about the resumption of hostilities between Washington and Tehran. The official was questioned by the Portuguese news agency whether Portugal intends to follow the challenge launched by the United States to exert greater economic pressure on Iran.
