Corn producers in Portugal point to the existence of 2000 water abstractions that need to be regularized, having requested the intervention of the Minister of Environment to resolve this issue. Jorge Neves, president of Anpromis, underlined that this number is probably quite lower than the real one.
The responsible party added that some of these abstractions are not regularized due to the loss of files that were submitted to the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) in 2010, which has significantly complicated the legalization process.
