Neurologists denounce the "limited" access of Spanish patients to new (and better) migraine drugs: "It increases suffering"

The Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN), the Spanish Association of Migraine and Headache (AEMICE) and the Spanish Headache Foundation (FECEF) warned on Wednesday about the difficulties that exist in Spain for people with migraine to access anti-CGRP medications, considered currently the most effective and safe preventive treatment by all neurology societies worldwide.

According to the organizations, these difficulties are due to the current restrictions for the prescription of these drugs. In total, six million people in Spain suffer from migraine, a condition that causes great suffering to patients.

The neurologists consider that the limited access to these medications represents a significant problem for Spanish patients, increasing their unnecessary suffering, since more effective treatments are available but cannot be prescribed due to the imposed restrictions.
