Each breath leaves its own signature in the brain. The breath at 9 in the morning doesn't last the same as the breath at 9:01, nor does it have the same slope, nor the same pause before releasing the air. This variability began to interest a group of neuroscientists from the University of California in San Diego. They want to know whether these small differences between one inspiration and the next have any reflection in the brain's electrical activity.
