Cirsa and Lottomatica reached a binding agreement to merge through a cross-border intra-community operation. The agreement provides for the absorption of the Spanish company Cirsa by the Italian group Lottomatica, according to a statement sent by Cirsa to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on Wednesday.
The operation will result in the creation of one of the largest global groups in the gaming and sports betting sector. The new giant resulting from this merger will have a significant presence in the international gaming market.
Cirsa is a Spanish company specializing in the gaming sector, while Lottomatica is an Italian group operating in the same sector. The merger between these two companies represents an important step in the consolidation of the gaming sector in Europe.
The binding agreement means that both companies have formally committed to the operation, which must still go through the usual regulatory procedures before it can be completed.
