Infarmed withdraws batch of intestinal medication

The National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed) ordered the immediate suspension of commercialization and voluntary recall of a batch of the medication Salofalk (mesalazine) in the 3,000 mg presentation of prolonged-release granules, due to a failure in the packaging serialization process. The affected batch, with reference L25428A and expiry date November 2029, must be withdrawn from pharmacies and hospital units. The responsible company is Dr. Falk Pharma Portugal. Infarmed recommends that patients in possession of the medication should not discontinue treatment without medical advice, and should contact their prescribing physician or pharmacy to proceed with replacement by another valid batch or equivalent therapeutic alternative.
