The Bank of Portugal releases this Wednesday, September 2, the Budget Execution data for July. In the first half of the year, the State deficit stood at 212.6 million euros, a reduction of 2,230.4 million euros compared to the surplus recorded in the same period of the previous year.
The Bank of Portugal also makes available the statistical note on interest rates and amounts of new loans and deposits, as well as housing credit data for July. Simultaneously, the European Central Bank releases statistics on bank interest rates in the eurozone.
Internationally, an extraordinary session of the Estonian Parliament is held for the election of the new President of the Republic. The Estonian president is appointed by parliament and is not elected by direct suffrage, requiring a two-thirds majority vote, with the last two presidents only being elected after several rounds of voting.
