Inflation in the eurozone reached 3.3%, driven mainly by rising energy costs, leading markets to anticipate a new interest rate hike by the European Central Bank.
ECB economists assure that this inflationary surge, caused by the energy sector, is not related to the demand surge observed between 2021 and 2022, thus distinguishing the current nature of inflationary pressure.
Markets expect the ECB to announce this interest rate hike at the September 10 meeting, reflecting the concern of European monetary authorities with the current inflation trajectory.
