Drivers born before this date cannot renew their driving licence through this means

Driving licence renewals can now be done through the gov.pt application, allowing drivers to complete the process without going to a counter. This feature allows users to receive a notification on their phone when the time comes to renew, confirm the necessary data and proceed with the request through the application.

This option is only available to drivers under 50 years old, holding a category B licence, who do not need to present a medical certificate, and who have a Citizen Card, active Digital Mobile Key and an associated Portuguese address. Given the age limit, as of 1 September 2026, drivers born on or before 1 September 1976 are excluded. The option also does not cover category B licences with restriction 997, used by those who drive ambulances, fire service vehicles, school transport, TVDE or taxis.

IMT can send a notification through the application approximately five months before the licence expires, and those who do not yet have the application installed can receive an SMS with instructions to install it. The process costs 27 euros and the new licence is sent to the address associated with the Citizen Card.

Those who do not meet the requirements can continue to use IMT Online or the IMT and Espaço Cidadão counters. It is important to note that driving with an expired licence is an offence, and when more than two years pass without renewal, it may be necessary to take a new practical driving test.

The 80-20 rule is a charging strategy aimed at extending the lifespan of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries found in smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices. These batteries offer high energy density and good battery life, but their longevity depends on factors such as temperature, state of charge, charging intensity and device usage. The main recommendation for preserving the battery is to avoid charging extremes by keeping the charge level between 20% and 80%.

Quality has a price. The lack of it has a bill

The article addresses the issue of information systems quality and the impact of unreliable systems. When the very system that should allow tracking and monitoring a situation does not function correctly, it becomes practically impossible to distinguish between a real problem, a simple registration error, or a technological failure. The central message suggests that investing in quality has a cost, but its absence ends up generating even greater consequences and expenses.

CNE approves AI regulation in education and prohibits students up to the 5th grade from using it alone at school

The National Education Council (CNE) approved this Tuesday the regulation of artificial intelligence use in Brazilian schools and universities. Among the main rules are the prohibition of students up to the 5th grade from using generative AI tools alone and the prohibition of using AI to correct essay evaluations, essays, or authored works that require interpretive judgment. The norm also prohibits academic sanctions based exclusively on AI-generated content detectors, social scoring systems, automated emotion recognition, and exploitation of student vulnerabilities. The rules will take effect after approval by the MEC, with a 12-month deadline for institutions to adapt. The text was reported by council members Celso Niskier and Israel Batista.
