The authorities advised against swimming at three beaches in Póvoa de Varzim due to high levels of water contamination. The affected beaches are Codixeira, Lagoa and South Urban Zone II.
According to the information provided, the waters at these beaches show elevated levels of intestinal enterococci and/or Escherichia coli, indicators of fecal contamination.
The situation led to the placement of prohibition signs at the mentioned beaches, warning bathers about the risks associated with water activities in these areas.
The authorities continue to monitor the water quality at these beaches, waiting for contamination levels to return to within safe parameters so that swimming can safely resume.
