After PGR's statement, Mendonça will decide on opening of inquiry

Minister André Mendonça, from the Supreme Federal Court (STF), will await an opinion from the Attorney General's Office (PGR) before deciding on opening a new inquiry. In a dispatch on Monday, Mendonça gave five days for the PGR to state its position on the matter.

The mentions under analysis involve the head of the agency itself, Paulo Gonet, and the Director-General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues. The references appeared in messages seized from the phone of banker Daniel Vorcaro, former controller of Banco Master, as part of the investigations into the financial institution.

According to a report produced by the PF, Vorcaro stated he needed the "protection" of "Andrei and Paulo" in one of the messages. The corporation identified these references as being to the Director-General of the PF and to Gonet. According to the investigation, the message was allegedly sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

The content was revealed by the Metrópoles website and confirmed by O Globo. With the PGR's statement, it will be up to Mendonça to evaluate what measures should be taken regarding the case.
