Humanitarian aid organizations are intensifying efforts to provide assistance to the areas most affected by the devastating flood that hit Nepal last week. The disaster has already caused more than a thousand dead and nearly four thousand missing, devastating dozens of towns in the country.
The Rasuwa district was the most affected by the disaster. Access to some communities in this region is proving especially difficult due to the destruction of the main road and bridges that cross the Trishuli River, which constituted the main communication route between this area and the rest of Nepal.
Ground access is not possible at this time, so supply to isolated areas is limited to air routes. Humanitarian organizations are working to overcome these logistical obstacles and bring aid to the most needy populations as quickly as possible.
