RAM business sector with increased investment, according to the Regional Government

The Quarterly Report on the Business Sector of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SERAM), referring to the second quarter of 2026, is available for public consultation. The report was made available through the Portal of the Regional Secretariat of Finance, at the address www.madeira.gov.pt/srfinancas/.

The document presents the quarterly accounts of the Business Sector of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, including a summary analysis of the economic and financial data for the period in question. Investment in the business sector of the RAM is reported to have increased, according to the conclusions of the report.

The publication of this type of quarterly reports is part of the usual practice of transparency and monitoring of regional economic activity by the Madeiran government. The Business Sector of the Autonomous Region of Madeira encompasses several public companies and companies in which the regional government holds stakes.

Collective dismissals rise to 375 by July, highest value since 2020

Portuguese companies reported 375 collective dismissals by July, an increase of about 13% compared to the same period last year and the highest value since 2020, according to DGERT data. Despite the increase in the number of collective dismissal processes, the number of workers actually affected fell 11.4%, to 4,055 people, reflecting a decrease in the scale of the processes.
