The Securities Market Commission has issued an alert regarding the significant increase in fraud and scam cases related to supposedly investments made in the capital market. This phenomenon represents a growing threat to investors.
The frauds are carried out through unsolicited contacts, in which scammers approach potential victims directly, usually by phone or message. Additionally, misleading advertising campaigns disseminated online through digital platforms and social networks are also used.
CMVM recommends that investors be wary of investment offers that appear unexpectedly and without prior solicitation. Scammers frequently promise high returns and profit guarantees, characteristics that are not compatible with legitimate investments in the securities market.
The regulatory entity calls on the public to always verify the legitimacy of entities and offers before investing, using CMVM's official channels to confirm the regularity of operations.
