The new SEPE program to encourage the return to work of people in unemployment situations is managing to get thousands of them re-enter the labor market. The reform promoted by the Ministry of Labour, which came into force on April 1, opened the possibility of combining the salary derived from a new job with part of the contributory unemployment benefit that was being received, generating an additional income that made accepting a new contract more attractive.
According to the article, 75% of unemployed people who receive this aid to accept a job do not return to unemployment when the benefit runs out. This means that the program is achieving a high level of success in the permanent labor integration of beneficiaries.
The measure was implemented by the SEPE, the Spanish Public Employment Service, and aims precisely to reduce unemployment levels in the country, making the transition to a new job financially smoother for workers.
