The Algarve ended the peak of the summer beach season with a positive balance, despite the drop in tourist demand recorded during that period. The region managed to maintain favorable results despite the difficulties faced.
Tourist demand declined mainly due to international instability and rising prices, which affected especially the mid-range visitor segment. This segment was the most penalized by market conditions.
In contrast, there was growth in the profile of domestic tourists with higher purchasing power, which partially offset the decline seen in other markets. This type of visitor became more relevant to the region during this period.
Thus, although the Algarve faced an overall reduction in demand, the increased participation of Portuguese tourists with greater financial capacity helped mitigate the negative effects of the international situation and higher prices.
