The cost of the Citizen Card in Portugal varies between 13.50 euros and 70 euros, depending on the type of request, the validity of the document and the level of urgency. Automatic or online renewal for cards with validity exceeding five years costs 16.20 euros, while in situations of loss, theft or destruction, when the new card has validity up to five years, the price drops to 13.50 euros.
In-person requests have slightly higher costs: 18 euros for people over 25 years old with validity exceeding five years, and 15 euros for people under 25 years old with validity up to five years. Urgent requests cost 30 or 33 euros, depending on the validity, and extremely urgent requests rise to 50 or 53 euros.
The highest value is that of the Provisional Citizen Card, which costs 70 euros and is reserved for situations of proven urgency, such as the need to travel urgently. This document is valid for 90 days and can only be issued at certain locations, including Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Coimbra and Braga.
There are cases where the Citizen Card is free: the first card for children under one year of age, and people who prove they do not have sufficient financial means through a document from Social Security or the Parish Council.
