The unemployment rate in the euro area increased slightly to 6.4% in July, according to data published by Eurostat. This value represents an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the 6.3% recorded in the same period of 2025.
In the European Union as a whole, the unemployment rate stood at 6.1%, also recording an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to 6.0% in July 2025.
Portugal has an unemployment rate below the euro area average, according to data published by the European statistics office.
