The conflict at Airbus continues after a new meeting without agreement between the company and the strike committee. The Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA) convened all Airbus unions to continue negotiations this afternoon, as part of the mediation promoted by the company. The meeting held this morning ended without an agreement to end the indefinite strike called by the unions CGT, UGT and ÚTIL. Negotiations are now continuing in an effort to resolve the standoff between management and workers.

Collective dismissals rise to 375 by July, highest value since 2020

Portuguese companies reported 375 collective dismissals by July, an increase of about 13% compared to the same period last year and the highest value since 2020, according to DGERT data. Despite the increase in the number of collective dismissal processes, the number of workers actually affected fell 11.4%, to 4,055 people, reflecting a decrease in the scale of the processes. Lisbon and Vale do Tejo leads with 63% of workers dismissed in July, and manufacturing industries were the sector with the greatest impact.
