The Local Health Unit of Central Alentejo has opened an urgent competition for the hiring of nine specialist doctors, with the objective of strengthening three clinical areas. Of the nine vacancies, four are for Gynecology/Obstetrics, three for Neurology, and two for Infectious Diseases. The procedure was published in the Official Gazette on August 31st and results from deliberations by the Board of Directors of ULSAC, taken on May 20th and June 11th, 2026.
The contracts to be signed are individual permanent employment contracts, for the category of assistant in the medical career, with a normal working period of 40 hours per week. The deadline for submitting applications is five working days, counted from the publication of the notice in the Official Gazette. The procedure automatically ends after the nine positions are filled.
Although the headquarters of ULSAC is in Évora, recruited professionals may work in the different establishments that are part of or come to be part of the local health unit, as well as in institutions with which ULSAC maintains agreements or collaboration protocols. The ULS of Central Alentejo integrates hospital care, primary health care, and other care services provided to the population of its area of influence.
Applications must be submitted exclusively electronically, accompanied by the required documents, including proof of registration with the Portuguese Medical Association. This opening of vacancies represents a new attempt to strengthen the medical staff of ULSAC in these three specialties through permanent employment contracts.
