Praça dos Pescadores in Albufeira hosts from September 4 to 6 the 27th edition of Festas do Pescador, an initiative promoted by the City Council that aims to bring different generations closer to the maritime history of the municipality and celebrate the human and cultural heritage associated with the fishing community. The event includes gastronomy, music, folklore, exhibitions, and historical reenactments.
The program begins on Friday, the 4th, at 18:00, with the official opening of Festas do Pescador, the food stalls, and a museum installed on the beach. This space will bring together artifacts and vessels representative of different periods of traditional fishing, complemented by demonstrations of net repair and testimonies from former sea professionals. Historical memory will also be present through a photography exhibition by Artur Pastor, showing old Albufeira, boats on the beach, and moments of fishing activity.
The musical program for the first night features Emanuel and Tânia at 19:30, followed by Marotos da Concertina at 22:00, with Emanuel and Tânia returning to the stage at 23:30. On Saturday, the 5th, at 20:00, the Folklore Festival takes place and at 22:30 Rui and Miguel perform. The last day of the Festas highlights José Cid, who closes the event at 22:30, after the concert by Duo 64 at 19:30. Throughout the three days, the City Council of Albufeira intends to reinforce the historical relationship between the municipality and the sea, keeping the roots of the fishing community alive.
