In just six months, 1,474 complaints of violence committed by children against their own parents were registered in Portugal. This number represents an average of eight complaints per day, which has been generating great concern among authorities and society.
The authorities warn of the significant increase in this type of domestic violence in the country. The cases involve different age groups of children and manifest in various forms, including physical, verbal, and psychological aggression.
This phenomenon represents a concerning reversal of the traditional dynamic of domestic violence, where normally it is parents or partners who commit violence against the most vulnerable. Security forces and social support entities are reinforcing attention to these specific cases.
