A five-year-old girl named Saylor Hayes was found dead on Monday morning (31st) in South Carolina, United States. The child, who did not speak, had disappeared from the house where she was staying with her family in the community of Hagley, in Georgetown County. She was located in the water, near the point where she was last seen.
Saylor had left the rental property on Old Waccamaw Drive on Sunday night. Immediately after the disappearance, authorities initiated a search operation that lasted throughout the night, mobilizing significant personnel.
The search teams included police officers, K-9 units, boats, a helicopter, an underwater drone, and hundreds of residents from the area. Authorities also used Project Lifesaver, a tracking system designed to help locate registered people who may become lost.
Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver stated that the teams would remain at the scene until they found the child. The body was found on Monday morning, ending the search that lasted more than 12 hours.
