The Local Health Unit (ULS) of Nordeste performed on August 31st the first robotic surgery on the spine at the Hospital Unit of Macedo de Cavaleiros. This procedure marks a historic milestone for the institution and for the Northeast Transmontano region.
The surgery was made possible thanks to the acquisition of a new robotic guidance system by the ULS of Nordeste. The equipment represents a significant technological advancement for the health unit.
The total investment for the implementation of this technology was around 2.6 million euros. This amount was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which allowed the institution to acquire the necessary equipment to perform this type of highly complex procedures.
