The JOM Group is investing two million euros in expanding its industrial operation in Guimarães, specifically at Polo I of JOM Indústria. The intervention will add approximately 2,000 square meters to the current 15,000 m² of industrial space, resulting in an increase of about 20% in production capacity, which currently exceeds 70,000 pieces of furniture per year. The project includes modernizing the facility with new equipment, energy production through photovoltaic panels, use of certified materials, and reuse of materials resulting from the production process. Own production represents more than 40% of the furniture sold by JOM, while more than 80% of sales correspond to products manufactured in Portugal. The industrial operation is also gaining international dimension with the installation of Birkenstock at Polo II, where the German brand will have a dedicated structure for developing new products.
The group's growth cycle extends to the real estate sector, with the transformation of several assets into new commercial spaces. In 2026, Corroios Retail Park and Batalha Retail Park were created, while projects were developed in Portimão, Bragança, and Penafiel to diversify the use of spaces. For the second half of the year, new projects are planned in Maia, Castelo Branco, and Chaves, including the transformation of spaces to accommodate a Physical gym and Fábrica dos Óculos in Maia, a gym and two commercial units in Castelo Branco, and a new purpose-built JOM store in Chaves. The group also has projects such as Alentejo Retail Park in Beja and a new development in Eiras, Coimbra, currently having 251 apartments between completed and ongoing projects in Portimão, Porto, Aveiro, and Penafiel.
Modernization also extends to the commercial network, with renovation of the stores in Batalha, Corroios, Portimão, Aveiro, Bragança, and Penafiel during this year, aimed at improving spaces, product display, and the shopping experience. E-commerce also grew, with JOM's online sales increasing more than 22% between January and June 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
The year 2026 is particularly important for the JOM Group, not only because it marks its 30th anniversary, but because it represents the beginning of a new stage, according to Clávio Cristo, JOM's marketing director. Founded in 1996, the company currently has 28 stores across the country and approximately 500 employees, maintaining a strategy based on the coordination between industrial, real estate, and commercial areas.
