Government assigns 12 positions to Alentejo for doctors' progression to the top of the career

Alentrium1 September 2026 at 09:37

The Government assigned 12 positions to the four Local Health Units of Alentejo for doctors' progression to the category of senior graduated assistant, the highest level of the medical career. This distribution is part of a national total of 350 positions intended for access to this category.

ULS do Alentejo Central receives the largest allocation, with four positions in the specialties of general surgery, general and family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. ULS do Alto Alentejo and ULS do Litoral Alentejano each have three positions, while ULS do Baixo Alentejo receives two positions.

These positions are intended for the professional progression of doctors already integrated in the careers, and not for the hiring of new professionals. The objective, according to the dispatch that establishes this distribution, is to attract and retain qualified doctors, reinforce the training capacity of NHS institutions and increase the number of professionals qualified to assume direction, chief or coordination functions.

The distribution covers hospital areas, complementary diagnostic means and general and family medicine, including specialties such as general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, radiology, urology, clinical pathology and physical and rehabilitation medicine. Dispatch No. 10747/2026 establishes the distribution of the 350 positions among NHS entities and respective specialties.
