Nepal faces one of the worst natural disasters in its recent history, with the overall flood toll rising to over a thousand dead. The floods were caused by heavy seasonal rains that hit the country, resulting in devastating landslides and floods that destroyed entire communities.
More than three thousand people remain missing after the disasters. Among the missing are three Portuguese citizens, which raises concerns for the international community and Portugal's diplomatic services.
Nepalese authorities continue working on rescue and humanitarian assistance operations, although the difficult terrain conditions and damaged roads hinder access to several affected regions. Thousands of people have been displaced from their homes and are seeking shelter in temporary shelters.
