The Vila Nova de Gaia council approved two agreements with IHRU for the acquisition of 91 housing units worth a total of 6.2 million euros, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The agreements provide for the rehabilitation of 65 housing units distributed across 10 parishes of the municipality, as well as the direct acquisition of 31 dwellings located in the parishes of Grijó and Mafamude.

All acquired housing units will be designated for controlled rent schemes, meaning intended for families with difficulties accessing housing at market prices.

This operation is part of the PRR European funding program to strengthen the supply of affordable housing in Portuguese municipalities.
