Traces of ancient streams reveal extreme episodes in Serra da Estrela

The Serra da Estrela Interpretation Center (CISE) draws attention to the existence of traces in the region that witness ancient episodes of torrents and flash floods. These extreme past events were recorded through the presence of fluvioglacial deposits identified in the Alvoco and Beijames streams, as well as in the Zêzere river. CISE highlights the importance of these geological traces for understanding the natural history of Serra da Estrela and the climatic phenomena that shaped the landscape over time.
