Gustavo Puerta further from Benfica: midfielder wanted the eagles... but may be heading to Olympiacos

The Colombian midfielder Gustavo Puerta, who wanted to transfer to Benfica, may be about to move to Olympiacos, in Greece. The Racing Santander player had the eagles as his preference for his next professional step, but the deal with the Portuguese club did not happen.

The owner of Olympiacos, Evangelos Marinakis, has already reached an agreement with Racing Santander for the signing of the player. The Greek proposal is said to have convinced the Spanish side, thus ending Benfica's hopes of securing the midfielder's pass.

Puerta, 25 years old, was considered a priority by Benfica to strengthen the team's midfield. However, the competition with Olympiacos ended with the Colombian player's choice of the Greek club.
