The CantanhedeGym Academy (ACG) will be represented by 23 gymnasts at the World Aerobic Gymnastics Championships, which take place in September, in Pamplona, Spain. The delegation, composed of 11 routines integrated in the Portuguese national team, was received on Friday (28) by the mayor of Cantanhede Municipality, Helena Teodósio, at the Town Hall.
The participation covers all three international age categories, with seven routines consisting exclusively of CantanhedeGym athletes and four performed in partnership with other Portuguese clubs, under the technical direction of Vanda Dias. Between September 4 and 6, 16 gymnasts participate in the Junior World Championships and the Youth World Competition, distributed across eight routines, including categories such as Men's Individual, Women's Individual, Mixed Pair, Trio, Group, AeroDance and AeroStep.
The senior participation takes place between September 11 and 13, at the 19th World Aerobic Gymnastics Championships, with seven CantanhedeGym athletes distributed across three routines. João Salvado, Maria Inês Rodrigues and Marta Moura compete in the Senior Trio, while the academy will also be represented in the AeroStep and AeroDance events, in partnership with athletes from other national clubs.
Helena Teodósio wished the athletes good luck and highlighted the importance of the competition for the sporting and personal development of the gymnasts, as well as the representation of Cantanhede and Portugal at the international event. The delegation is accompanied by Vanda Dias, technical director of CantanhedeGym and international judge of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
