PSPV-PSOE of the Provincial Council demanded that Marta Barrachina, president of the Provincial Council, demand from the president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, the recovery and expansion in 2027 of the one million euros that the regional government cut this year in fire prevention aid for the province's municipalities.
The socialist party argues that the Council (regional government) significantly reduced the funds destined for fire prevention, which puts the safety of local populations at risk during the fire season.
The demand arises in the context of a political debate about the investment priorities of the regional government and the responsibility of public administrations in protecting the territories most vulnerable to forest fires.
The socialists want the cut million euros to be not only recovered but also expanded from 2027 onwards, demonstrating concern for the long-term sustainability of fire prevention policies in the province.
