PS leader José Luís Carneiro accused Luís Montenegro this Sunday of trying to "whitewash" the problems recorded in national exams and access to higher education. This was described as the biggest whitewashing operation ever by the socialist.
Carneiro stated that the prime minister "fears the Portuguese people" and should listen more to the country instead of minimizing the existing failures in the national exam system.
The criticism arises in a context of problems reported in national exams and the higher education admission process, issues that have generated public debate in Portugal.
