The Traffic Brigade of the National Republican Guard is being reactivated, four months after it was promised by the Ministry of Internal Administration. This reactivation represents a change in the organizational structure of the GNR.
Four traffic detachments were transferred from the dependence of the Lisbon and Setúbal commands to the National Traffic Unit. This reorganization aims to strengthen the capacity for traffic surveillance and management at the national level.
The measure comes as a response to a previous promise by the Ministry of Internal Administration, which had announced the recovery of the GNR's traffic structure. The process of transferring the detachments indicates that the promise is being fulfilled gradually.
The National Traffic Unit now has greater operational control over these detachments, potentially allowing for more centralized and efficient management of traffic enforcement operations in Portugal.
